Are you ready to treat your IBS naturally?
Have you lived with IBS for years and wondered, “How can I treat IBS naturally?” Are you ready for a remedy and not just a bandaid fix? If so, then turn no further than the keto diet and Solar Plexus Chakra balance! In this blog post, I will go through how the two concepts go hand in hand for helping your IBS symptoms!
What is IBS?
Before we talk about how you can naturally treat IBS, let me define IBS for you. IBS is short for Irritable Bowel Syndrome. According to Mayo Clinic, Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) is a common disorder that affects the large intestine. Signs and symptoms include cramping, abdominal pain, bloating, gas, and diarrhea or constipation, or both. It has also been discovered that IBS is a chronic condition that you’ll need to manage long-term1.
Surprisingly, Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) affects 7% to 21% of the general population. It is a chronic condition that can substantially reduce the quality of life and work productivity. Further, the diagnosis of IBS relies on the identification of characteristic symptoms and the exclusion of other organic diseases. Management of patients with IBS is optimized by an individualized, holistic approach that embraces dietary, lifestyle, medical, and behavioral interventions2.
Can IBS symptoms turn into something more serious?
IBS doesn’t cause permanent damage to the intestines, nor does it increase cancer risk. The biggest issue is discomfort. Depending on the severity of symptoms, IBS may also disrupt your everyday routine 3. However, this being said, if you think you have IBS, you should always get evaluated by a medical provider to make sure it isn’t anything more serious.
Does IBS ever completely go away?
The answer to this question is no. However, it can be controlled very easily with a keto diet and Solar Plexus Chakra balance( as long as there is nothing more serious going on). There are also natural remedies and other ways to manage this condition holistically.
My IBS story
I will start by giving you my personal story and how I chose to treat IBS naturally. Back in 2014, after the birth of my third child, I started having IBS issues. My son was born in November 2014, and I can remember struggling with bowel issues. My symptoms consisted of diarrhea, constipation, bloating, cramping, and even abdominal pain. Back then, I was eating organic; however, I was not eating keto. Historically, I had done the Atkins diet in 2009 after the birth of my daughter, but back then, I had done it just for weight loss. For some reason, I didn’t think about doing it in 2014.
I can remember thinking, “Ugh, why do I keep having these bowel issues?” I thought that maybe it was tied to my c-section and having a tubal ligation. However, as 2014 came and went, I continued to have bowel issues into 2015. I also noticed a trend in them in that they seemed to worsen right before my period. Again and again, I thought it was more likely related to my c-section and some surgical complications.
Had colonoscopy
Finally, after struggling with the same problems for over a year, I decided to have a colonoscopy in 2016. After they did the procedure, they did not find anything and diagnosed me with IBS. I was happy that everything came back fine; however, now I learned that I had a condition where I had to deal with diet and lifestyle interventions.
Found keto again
So after a lot of research and my prior experience with the Atkin’s diet, I decided to start back on a keto diet. I found Dr. Atkin’s book again and read up on some of Dr. Mercola’s publications on the keto diet. I was determined to cure my IBS with a keto diet!
IBS improved
So, I started back on keto; I got immediate improvement in my symptoms and had incredible energy! I also noticed that it helped me to shed the extra baby pounds.
Flare-ups came back
So between 2016 and 2018, I had very minimal flare-ups. However, in the summer of 2019, I had another very painful eruption of IBS. I thought to myself, “Why am I getting a flare-up? I eat keto most of the time. What is wrong with me?” It was then that I discovered that a keto diet alone is not good enough and that it also comes down to your emotional body via chakra balance.
How did I discover it was my solar plexus chakra?
When I had my flare-up in 2019, I did not know about the chakra system and was completely ignorant of this concept. When I developed abdominal pain that summer in 2019, I chose to see a holistic practitioner specializing in electrodermal screening (EDS). I wanted to treat my IBS naturally! If you aren’t familiar with this device, then let me briefly explain. It is a screening tool used to measure energetic imbalances and identify a problem area even before the disease can manifest itself. It is a known fact that early detection of energy changes in acupuncture points will direct us to where attention needs to be, which will allow us to intervene homeopathically before needing conventional medicine.
Anyways, to get back to the story, I showed up for my appointment and had the EDS done. After the holistic practitioner did the assessment, he told me that my Solar Plexus Chakra was off-balance, contributing to the abdominal pain. He also said that if I didn’t do something about my emotional imbalances in this area, I could develop colon cancer. After he relayed all of this information to me, I looked at him astounded. How was I in such bad shape that I was on track to develop colon cancer? I mean, I ate a keto diet, took supplements, and exercised! What in the world?
After that day and time, I learned that health goes so much deeper than diet, exercise, or supplementation. It all has to do with your energetic body! After that point, I became inspired and decided to take my issues into my own hands. I wanted to do whatever I could to tend to my emotional body. It was then that I took up yoga and meditation! Ever since that point, I have improved my health a lot! After this whole experience, I became inspired to start a blog! I wanted to educate people in the world on concepts I have learned.
How do you know if your solar plexus is causing IBS symptoms?
Okay, so there is no sure way of being able to tell this! If you are suffering from IBS and want natural treatment, then it is always good to first be evaluated by a healthcare professional to make sure it isn’t serious. However, if you’ve already done this or are currently under medical treatment, then I would consider balancing your Solar Plexus Chakra to see if you get relief. Any bowel or pancreatic issue can result from your Solar Plexus Chakra. So, it is always good to keep this energetic center in mind when you have these gastrointestinal issues.
What symptoms do you get when your Solar Plexus Chakra is unaligned?
If you suffer from a lack of willpower, self-esteem, and motivation, then your solar plexus chakra may need alignment. One cue that I have learned to look for in myself is confidence. If I don’t feel confident doing things like eating healthily or write an article, I know my Solar Plexus Chakra is at play. I also will notice that my bowels tend to flare up when my Solar Plexus Chakra is going out of alignment. I have learned to listen to my body when it comes to this.
How do I balance my Solar Plexus Chakra?
Great question! There are numerous ways to do this. Balancing your Solar Plexus Chakra is a great way to treat your IBS naturally! One of my favorite ways is yoga; however, if you’re not into yoga, that is okay. You can also meditate or take a sport that builds self-confidence, such as Tai Chi. I am also a big fan of affirmations when it comes to Solar Plexus Chakra balancing. Some good things to say are, “I manifest my destiny,” “I can do this,” or “I believe in myself.” When you are going throughout your day, you want to repeat these words over and over.
I also believe that foods help with this chakra. Some good, keto-friendly things to eat for this chakra center include sunflower seeds, yellow peppers, lemons, or yellow squash. When you want to align this chakra, focusing on foods with a yellow hue is essential! Bananas are excellent, but you want to limit these to keto-carb cycling days, as they are higher in carbs. I have a good podcast on balancing the Solar Plexus Chakra, which you can access here.
How does the keto diet help with IBS?
If you have been wondering, “how can I treat IBS naturally?” then consider the keto diet in addition to balancing your Solar Plexus Chakra. So how does the keto diet help with IBS? Let me explain. A survey of doctors who recommend low-carb eating found that it’s prevalent among their patients to have dramatic improvements or even resolution of long-standing IBS symptoms 4.
It turns out that a very low-carb diet is also consistent with a low FODMAP(eating plan recommended for IBS) diet. According to Dr. Westman, who is an avid keto researcher and clinician,

“A very low-carb diet, or LCHF, is basically a low-FODMAP diet with even fewer carbs,” said Dr. Westman5.

In a recent study from New Zealand, people were randomly assigned to follow a diet providing either 5, 15, or 25% of calories from carbs. All three groups reached ketosis and reported resolution of their abdominal bloating and cramping. While this was not specifically an IBS study, it confirms that low-carb diets can improve GI symptoms6.
Supplements for IBS
Besides treating IBS naturally with Solar Plexus Chakra and the Keto diet, you can turn to supplements to help you. I have found that probiotics are beneficial for IBS. I take one every day, and it has helped me a lot in regulating my IBS. The one I use is the Gut Health Kit from Global Healing Center.
Overall, I have found probiotics and supplements such as the Gut Health Kit to be very helpful! However, I think they are most beneficial when doing a keto diet and balancing my Solar Plexus Chakra.
In Conclusion
If you have been struggling with IBS and want to treat it naturally, then I would turn to the keto diet and chakra balance for relief. Ever since I have done these two concepts in my own life, I have found a lot of ease. You don’t have to turn to medications to manage your IBS. There are so many natural interventions out there to help! You can also try supplements and exercise! However, I have found the most relief in doing the keto diet and learning to tend to my Solar Plexus Chakra.
